Sponsor One-to-One Tutoring for a Winnipeg Student

Local businesses, organizations and community members can fund tutoring for students whose families cannot otherwise afford suitable academic support.

Who can sponsor

• Community organizations and service clubs

• Individual community members

• Groups sponsoring together

Individuals may be publicly recognized, remain anonymous or decline recognition entirely.

What Your Sponsorship Provides

A sponsorship funds more than the time a tutor spends with a student. The sponsorship rate also supports the work required to place the student and operate the program.

This includes:

• One-to-one tutoring

• Family intake and eligibility review

• Student learning-needs review

• Student and tutor matching

• Scheduling and placement administration

• Program recordkeeping

• Sponsor communication

• Anonymous impact reporting

All tutoring and administration costs are included in the sponsorship rate.

How Sponsorship Works

1. Choose a Sponsorship

Select a 10-, 16- or 32-hour sponsorship package. Custom and program-wide sponsorships may also be arranged.

2. The Program Matches the Hours

The sponsored hours are matched with an eligible Winnipeg student based on academic need, location, scheduling and tutor availability.

3. Tutoring Is Arranged

The family completes the placement process and approves an available tutor before tutoring begins.

4. You Receive an Impact Summary

Sponsors receive anonymous information about the tutoring hours completed, academic skills addressed and progress observed.

What Sponsors Receive

Sponsors receive:

• A business invoice and payment receipt

• Confirmation of the number of tutoring hours funded

• Anonymous information about the tutoring provided

• An Impact Summary describing the skills addressed and progress observed

• Optional recognition on eligible community-facing program materials

• The option to purchase additional hours or sponsor another student

Sponsors may request that additional hours continue with the same anonymously matched student. Continued matching may be possible but cannot be guaranteed.

Business names and logos are not included on materials distributed through schools. School-facing materials focus only on the tutoring program and family eligibility.

Privacy and Program Boundaries

Sponsors do not receive the student’s or family’s name, school, address, contact information or other identifying information.

Sponsors do not communicate directly with families and do not participate in eligibility, placement or tutor-matching decisions. All family communication and program administration are handled through the Laura Bungarz Sponsored Tutoring Program.

Families are told who funded their tutoring. Individual community sponsors may choose to be identified by name, listed as an anonymous community sponsor or receive no public recognition.

Business and Tax Information

The Laura Bungarz Sponsored Tutoring Program operates as a social enterprise. Sponsorships are purchases through the program and are not charitable donations.

Charitable tax receipts are not issued. Sponsors receive a business invoice and payment receipt. Businesses should consult their accountant or tax advisor regarding the appropriate accounting or tax treatment of sponsorship expenses.

About the Program

The program is operated and overseen by Laura Bungarz, B.Ed., a Manitoba- and Saskatchewan-certified teacher with more than 20 years of experience and a TESL certificate.

Laura provides tutoring in English Language Arts from Kindergarten to Grade 12, foundational mathematics from Kindergarten to Grade 8, and academic EAL support within those subject areas.

As the program grows, additional qualified tutors may be approved to accept placements in their areas of experience. Families receive information about available tutors before confirming a match.
